Predictive Maintenance
Predictive Maintenance evaluates the condition of in-service equipment in order to predict when corrective maintenance is required.
The main value of PdM is to prevent unexpected failures and allow convenient scheduling of remedial work PdM, gives the right information at the right time and transform what would have been unplanned stops into shorter, fewer, planned stops, increasing plant availability.
In contrast, time-based maintenance is labour-intensive and ineffective in identifying problems that develop between scheduled inspections. Reactive maintenance is between four and five times more expensive than scheduled work.
PdM can be incorporated within a CMMS to trigger maintenance planning and reporting.
